Valentines Makeup 2018

Valentines Day has come around again and I could not carry on my tradition of creating a Valentines Inspired makeup look. This year I’ve decided to get a little creative, being a very amateur and lazy eyeshadow wearer has meant my looks, although I find very pretty are somewhat simple to most.
I decided to find inspiration from my sister who’s makeup skills are top notch and create something very different to what I would normally do but keep the Valentines Makeup Tradition exciting.
Now, of course, this look isn’t valentines specific you can wear it for any day or the year, single or happily in a relationship.

Let’s get started with a quick rundown of my base, I would recommend starting all makeup looks with a primed face, I’m currently using a Glossier Primer, for a perfectly flawless finish I used a beauty blender to apply my Rainforest of the sea foundation from Tarte. I always get a much natural, I hate to use the word but flawless complexion when I use a beauty blender.
I contoured using Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer from the Bronze and Glow compact. I didn’t go into this too heavily, as I’ve been with my boyfriend 4 years now he’s used to my moon face shape.
I want my skin to be glowy so I decided to skip out on blusher and go heavy with some highlighter –
Making its first appearance on PennyxxLane is the Fenty Beauty Highlighter Duo, it is a dreamy piece and one swipe of the glowy bit of heaven is enough to blind anyone, so with a light hand, I made sure not to overdo it as I wanted to be a cross between girl/angel. A happy medium. I’m using Fire Crystal from the KillAWatt compact. I’m not one to go bananas over highlight but this compact has me squealing with amazement.

For the eyes I primed them using M.A.C’s Paint Pot in the shade Camel Coat, to cover even out the colour and to create a lovely canvas for our makeup – Maybelline does a fantastic affordable option of this. We begin with taking the KIKO smart single eyeshadow in the shade  Matte Red which I blended into the crease – these little single eyeshadows are amazing plus they are incredibly cheap.

The Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette is one of my most recent purchases and I am obsessed with it, I’m going to do a full palette review but for now we’re going to use two shades starting with the gorgeous New Money, a purple with blue undertones  I took this all over the lid and blending with the crease colour. Now taking either a flat dense brush or you could use your pinky you take a swipe of the eye-popping Chocolate Gold and swipe it down the middle of the eye. I decided to go all in and apply a cat flick but the look looks just as good without. Finally, on my eyes, I framed them with Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, which is all I’m using lately. It’s a definite favourite of mine – I find it works for all sorts of occasions.

I’m not used to such an extravagant eye look so for lips I’ve gone for a nude lip from Too Faced’s Melted Matte collection in the shade Cool Girl, I’m a fan of the formula, very comfortable on the lips.- I’m not over the liquid lipstick phase yet and I’m a sucker for a matte nude so this was right up my street. A pale pink lip could look very nice with this too.
