Pumpkin & Apple Picking

Pumpkin Pickin in Edinburgh

Now that Autumn is in full swing I am head over heels about it! This month is my birthday and to be honest I really don’t want to even think about what age I’m turning but I love birthdays, I always enjoy making everyone’s special and now it’s my turn and of course it’s Halloween, I love decorating the house and watching scary movies, seeing the little kids at door with their cute outfits!  Every summer I made a list of things I want to do, every year I want to go strawberry picking and every year I don’t. Last weekend I decided to check if my local Pick your own fruit and veg farm had pumpkins and was excited to see they did. Sunday was the 4th anniversary of my boyfriend and I’s first date, it was something different for us to do to celebrate but right up my street. Craigie Farm is near South Queensferry, there is a cute little cafe and shop where you can buy produce and little gifts along with a really good sized play park.

The day we visited there were apples, pumpkins, a few strawberries and sunflowers to pick. I decided to go apple picking whilst I was there too. There is currently no admission fee and you just pay for what you pick, super simple. You can check their website before you travel to see what’s available too!

It’s not the kinda thing I thought I could do at this time of year but luckily the farm wasn’t too muddy, if the weather wasn’t so fair these photographs could have had a much different vibe to them.

I am so excited about Halloween, I feel sad that it only lasts one day, every year I decorate the house and feel it goes to waste soooo i’ve decided to decorate the weekend before so we can really appreciate the little decorations and orange lights. I am excited. Last year was the first year I carved my own pumpkin…. I usually leave it to more talented people in my house but it was left to me and I realised how much I love doing the whole thing soooo I think I may do more than one pumpkin this year. Can you tell how I’m excited about Halloween… Do I need to stop?

Anyways back on topic now that I know how near the farm is I think I’ll be visiting a lot during the spring and Summer months and of course to pick up a pumpkin or two!
