Mimi’s Bakehouse is one of my favourite places in Edinburgh to go for some tasty cakes , they have recently held a couple of Evening “afternoon tea’s” or as they call it Before Bed Tea… I knew spaces would fill up fast so I quickly booked a table for me and my friend. You’re sent the menu before confirming your booking.
Our menu for the evening
There were a few different options we decided to go for the “Tea and Coffee” option, although we both had their delicious Cranberry Juice. My friend doesn’t eat sandwiches so as delicious as the sandwiches sounded, we asked if could switch our sandwiches for some more cakes and the staff were more than happy to oblige… I should have asked beforehand but they were really nice about our request.
I annoyingly didn’t get a photo of the welcome nibbles but they were delicious I particularly enjoyed the Brie and Caramelised tartlet.
I’ve had afternoon tea at Mimis before and I was really excited about having their scones again because they are so tasty! (Currently drooling over them writing this post) Each person gets one plain scone and one fruit scone along with jam and clotted cream…
On to the cakes we had a variety of mini cakes, I say mini they’re a really good size. My absolute favourite was the Rasberry Meringue which had cream sandwiched in…
After eating all the scones and a couple of cakes we were completely full! And we were given a takeaway box to take our remaining cakes home.
The bakehouse in Corstorphine along with its original cafe in Leith is a cosy with booths, tables and couches and coffee tables. The decor is very vintage chic and a real favourite amongst people in Edinburgh and further afield.
If you’re in the area I highly recommend popping in for afternoon tea or even just a slice of cake and a cup of their amazing hot chocolate!
