Last Monday I shared my final thoughts on the Naked Foundation that I had finished and now it’s time to share my first impressions on my new foundation.
I was in one of those situations where both my primer and foundation ran out at the same time! It was awful I don’t want to ever experience that again (okay it wasn’t that bad) but buying a new foundation is one of my least favourite things to do with regards to beauty, a good base is so important for when doing my makeup. I really loved Bobbi Browns face base primer! It worked a treat and was a moisturiser too! However, the beauty blogger in me wanted to see what else there was on offer.
This time around I looked to Clinique, having never tried much of their beauty (I do love their High Impact Mascara) I set my sights on their Beyond Perfecting foundation. A foundation and concealer in one I was really excited about it as I always forget to buy concealer! 2 birds one stone! As always I had the lovely makeup artist apply the foundation for me and I asked her what primers Clinique have and she pointed me to SuperPrimer and decided to go for that. It has big shoes to fill.
The Superprimer face primer is universal so it’s basically suitable for all skin-types, I’ve mentioned this before but I don’t really like skin products that are described for all skin-types, I have rather dry skin so I would prefer a primer that is perfect for exactly that. I use a few dollops all over my face, I get the impression this won’t be lasting me very long, but if you don’t have dry skin like me perhaps you’ll use less product and it’ll last you longer (I’ll let you know how I get on). It’s a nice product once on, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or tacky, it awakens the skin almost.
The beyond perfecting foundation is oil-free and is said to be natural to matte finish with moderate to full coverage!
I’ve never been one to use such full coverage foundation, but this wasn’t scary at all! It covers everything, without it being obvious that I’m wearing foundation *wiiiiniiiing*. It’s quite a thick consistency however it blends and spreads really well, I’ve tried using a beauty sponge and a face brush and I find I prefer using a brush using this foundation – why? I don’t know.
Clinique advertises it as a moisturising foundation, however, I’ve found it has clung to my skin, my skin is going through a particularly dry phase at the moment, and some days it has been quite bad so it could just be that… But I kind of expect a foundation that is suited to dry skin to apply better with dryness… I’ve had better results with others. But, like I said my skin is pretty bad at the moment (I have a new moisturiser that has been a lifesaver, post coming Friday).
The longevity is also wonderful! This could be a combination of the primer too, it lasts all day, without fading or melting away!
I really like the added concealer tool, dabbing on some extra product on more stubborn blemishes or under my eyes, it gives an even better result! Of course being Clinique it is super skin friendly and I’ve had absolutely no breakouts from using it.
I’m going to scrape the very last of my Bobbi Brown Face Base Primer to see how it works with the foundation (I wish I thought about doing that before).
Despite my skin woes, I am really impressed with the foundation, in particular, the coverage and the longevity and for £25 I think it’s a fair price. It’s early doors still, I’ll keep you updated.
