A couple weekends ago I treated my little sister to a little night away in Glasgow as an early birthday present, I booked us a night at the Citizen M hotel in Glasgow which I had been itching to stay in.
We were a little bit early for check in but there’s a large communal area, with lots of comfy seats, tv’s and even iMacs to entertain you…
When it came to 2pm for check in, we did it all ourselves from a computer and got to choose whether we wanted a “city” or “court yard” view room. We activated our keycard and went up to our room!
The room is compact with a massive XL Kingsize bed and very cool ambient mood lighting that you can control via the iPad on the bedside table.
Glasgow is one of my favourite places to go shopping so after check in we headed out and went into lush and then the mothership that is Forever 21. After a little shopping, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for some dinner.
Using the apple airplay we put on some music on in our room streaming it to the wide screen tv and got ready.
We went to The Hard Rock Cafe because we were both in the mood for some big juicy burgers, while we waited we ordered some delicious non-alcoholic cocktails, we ordered a strawberry and mango one and oh my god they were delicious! I’m drooling just writing about it.
I’m a huge fan of Hard Rock Cafe burgers! So delicious and so big I can hardly hold the thing.
After our dinner, we waddled back to the hotel for the night. Before going back to our room we dropped by the cafeteria to redeem 2 bottles of juice which were complimentary. As part of the room, there are hundreds of free movies to watch! So we got comfy on the giant bed and started watching Ted 2.
It was such a nice night, we just hung out watching endless movies and having some laptop time using the free wifi, it was nice to have time just us two.
The cafeteria is open 24 hours so we decided to go grab a midnight snack and bring it to our room, we both chose a slice of malteaser cake which was delicious! They had a range of foods for you to buy and the bar was a popular place for guests to spend their Thursday evenings, there was a very cool and relaxed atmosphere.
We opted for late checkout which was until 4pm so we had extra time to laze about, plus the weather was horrendous so we just sat by the big window watching the world go by and watching some tv.
Before we left I couldn’t not have a go of the rain forest shower, which is incredible, I’m not a shower person but it was great, I would shower every day in that thing if I had it at home, paired with the lighting… it was just so cool.
It was such a lovely 24 hours and I wish I could have stayed in that hotel forever! I can’t wait to go back.
Have you ever stayed in Citizen M?
